Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Redondela, Don Vinarius offers an authentic taste of Galicia through its charming tapas restaurant experience. Located at Praza de Ponteareas, this delightful eatery specializes in traditional Spanish small plates that invite you to savor a variety of vibrant flavors and textures — from savory bites to indulgent desserts.

Though the daily menu may vary, Don Vinarius excels in delivering a rich selection of tapas that cater to different palates, including options suitable for vegetarians. One standout from visitors is the chocolate cheesecake, a decadent treat that adds a sweet finale to a perfectly crafted meal. The restaurant’s culinary offerings strike a fine balance between hearty and refined, making each dish feel both comforting and memorable.

The atmosphere at Don Vinarius perfectly complements the food — bustling yet welcoming, with a cozy ambiance that warmly embraces locals and travelers alike. It’s clear from the friendly, helpful staff that excellent service here is a priority; they even provide an English menu, easing the dining experience for international visitors. The kitchen’s commitment to staying open without pause ensures that those arriving at unconventional times or seeking an early dinner won’t be left wanting — a thoughtful convenience in a foreign land.

Customers walking the Camino de Santiago have particularly appreciated Don Vinarius as a prime spot to relax and recharge. Despite the busy lunch hours, guests consistently praise the value of their “Pilgrim menu,” remarking on the satisfying portions and well-prepared meals. The lively environment filled with chatter and the aroma of freshly cooked food further enhances the feeling that you’re enjoying a genuine slice of Spanish culture.

While some have noted that prices can be slightly on the higher side, the combination of quality ingredients, convenient location, and attentive service easily justifies the expense. Whether you’re searching for a hearty lunch, a leisurely dinner, or a pleasant resting point on your journey, Don Vinarius offers an inviting culinary retreat where each bite tells a story of tradition and care.

For those exploring the vibrant streets of Pontevedra, this tapas restaurant is more than just a meal — it’s an opportunity to connect with the local spirit, one delicious dish at a time.

Somehow I left a pocket review of 1 star, sorry! We had our bags delivered here and dropped them off the next morning for pickup for the Camino. We enjoyed our lunch upon arrival, especially the chocolate cheesecake. They were out of the veggie options for the daily menu, but we still found a few items on their normal menu that didn't have meat/fish. Our waiter was a little absent minded and overcharged us a few euros.

We were walking the Camino de Santiago and we stopped here to have lunch. I’m glad I didn’t look at the reviews. The experience was good. The place was very busy, it was the peek time, but it didn’t harm the experience. I had the Pilgrim menu and the food was decent. Good value for money.

Great food. A little pricey. Kitchen does not close, hard thing to find when coming from abroad and need an early dinner. Convenient location.

Fantastic staff, cold beer, and delicious pinchos, right on the junction of the Coastal and Central Camino routes. I enjoyed two radlers as I watched the pilgrims trickle in from both directions. A MUST stop for all Peregrinos!

After a long hike, our group of 14 famished hikers stumbled upon Don Vinarius. We were worried a large group might overwhelm them, but the staff effortlessly accommodated us. The menu offered something for everyone, and the portions were perfect. The Chicken Curry and Chicken Cordon Bleu were absolute highlights, leaving everyone satisfied. The grilled baby squid, while a touch salty, was still enjoyable. The real star of the show, though, was the atmosphere. It was a place that effortlessly transformed from a welcoming lunch spot to a place with a vibrant vibe. By the end, we were all fueled up and ready to tackle anything, thanks to Don Vinarius!
